Aberration

May 2020 | Digital Video + 3D Modeling

To glitch something is to completely remove it from its original context. In this work I used it to represent the concept of fading memories as we get older. Our minds normally work by filtering out unneeded information and recollections that haven’t been reinforced over time. Being able to glitch memories helps to visualize the way the brain can only recall certain parts or nothing at all. It is, overall, a progression into a jumbled mess of static, misaligned colores and hazy overlays that constantly shift, but never accurately completes the picture it is supposed to convey. The mind is attempting to fill gaps in thoughts only to end up with a distorted interpretation of what the original memory was. This work captures my own experience with this loss as well as how I sometimes feel as though I am living in a haze because I cannot remember things clearly.
